Hi,
We have fallen in love with Provence as I knew we would! Either we are planting more grapes, olives and Lavender at Sage Street or we are all moving to the South of France!
We landed in Nice and managed to (just) negotiate driving on the right hand side of the road to get out of the city - although not having cash at hand at the first motorway toll booth was a little hiccup ...
We stayed our first night in St Paul de Vence just out of Nice, the home of a medieval hilltop village; and the next day drove 250km across to the centre of Provence where we are staying until Friday. So we have explored numerous quaint old villages, some perched on hilltops, and this morning visited a weekly market at Gordes - we still cannot comprehend the age of some of these places, where they have had various forms of occupation since the time of Christ.
Tomorrows plan is to visit St Remy (its market, castles and Van Gogh's home for a while) and more gorgeous villages of course....
